Memorial and Tribute Program

Gifts in memory of or in honor of a loved one are welcomed by CASA of Central Virginia. What a meaningful way to recognize someone for a special occasion or to remember a loved one who has died - and help provide comfort and caring to an abused and neglected child! A memorial or tribute gift is truly a gift that keeps on giving.

Tasteful acknowledgments are sent to the honoree or to the family of the deceased, as well as to the donor.

In order to send a contribution in memory of or in honor of someone, simply send a written note with the name and address of the person to notify regarding the memorial or tribute and your tax-deductible check to CASA of Central Virginia, P. O. Box 11373, Lynchburg, VA 24506.

Extra-Mile Club

In the process of their independent investigations, CASA volunteers are often required to visit social service agencies, caregiver homes, homes of origin, schools and medical facilities, among other destinations. In addition, they are required to visit with their CASA child or children at least once a month, and many volunteers have more frequent contact with their children. Some children have been placed in foster homes as far away as 50 miles from where volunteers live. All of these visits mean that CASA volunteers must travel many miles each month, if they are to advocate effectively for their children.

CASA of Central Virginia is grateful for the dedication of CASA volunteers in serving their children. With the on-going hikes in gas prices, CASA staff are concerned that volunteers will need to cut back on their activity, which could have a direct impact on the children they serve. We are also concerned that volunteers will be unable to be assigned to cases, if the travel is extensive.

To assist CASA volunteers with handling the expense of gas, CASA of Central Virginia has begun The Extra-Mile Club. Volunteers will be provided with stipends of $10.00 each month to help with their mileage. Donors are welcome to make contributions directly to the Extra Mile Club. That way the donors can "go the extra mile" in order for the CASA Volunteers to be able to do the necessary travel they must do to be an effective advocate for their children.
