CASA Raffle Winners Announced

Andrew Beckham, the three-year-old son of Scott and Kelly Beckham, of Forest, is the winner of the CASA for Kids Playhouse. Barbara Ward and Vicki Mann, both of Lynchburg, are the winners of the two child-sized picnic tables. Barbara Ward has donated her picnic table to the Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Pre-School. The playhouse and picnic tables were constructed by the students in the Intro. to Building Trades Class of Heritage High School, under the instruction of Jerry Dudley.

New London Trailers, of Forest, transported and displayed the playhouse throughout the fundraising project. ABC Supply Company, Inc.; Eastern Aluminum Supply of VA, Inc.; English's Inc.; Home Depot, and Lowe's on Timberlake Road have either contributed supplies or substantially discounted the cost of supplies for the project. Central District Association of General Contractors of VA has made a generous contribution toward the purchase of supplies. Because of the generous support of these sponsors, the majority of the proceeds from the raffle ticket sales, totaling over $5,900, will go to support CASA of Central Virginia.

Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA volunteers, are assigned to cases of children who have been abused or neglected in Lynchburg, and the counties of Amherst, Bedford, Campbell and Nelson. They provide consistent and caring support for children as they go through difficult juvenile court proceedings. The goal of the CASA volunteers is to help the child be placed in a safe, permanent home in the shortest time possible.
