CASA of Central VA joins with our local departments of social services, community partners and public officials to proclaim April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Pinwheel gardens will be planted in each locality as a tribute and representation of children who were abused and neglected last year. Public officials will be proclmaing April as Child Abuse Prevention month with the reading of Proclomations. Please join us and our community partners to facilitate education around child abuse and neglect in our communities and promote awareness and prevention for the future. Empowered to Connect Conference

You are invited to the 2017 Empowered to Connect live simulcast. Empowered to Connect is designed to equip you to bring hope and healing to foster and adopted children. Family Life Services Adoption Agency and Thomas Road Baptist Church's JourneyHome Adoption Group are hosting the live simulcast of the Empowered To Connect Conference at TRBC in Bruner Hall (1 Mountain View Road, Lynchburg, VA) which will be FREE for all attendees. Developed by the late Dr. Karyn Purvis & Dr. David Cross (Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development), this conference is ideal for adoptive and foster parents, extended family members, childcare providers, those considering adoption or foster care and those who are serving and supporting others, including social workers, agency professionals, church staff and ministry leaders, counselors, therapists and all others involved in adoption and foster care ministries or services.

If you are a social worker or licensed professional and wish to receive continuing education credit, please register here. There is a fee for continuing education credits.

Family Life Services and JourneyHome will provide snacks throughout the event and there is a planned lunch break for you to have lunch on your own. You are welcome to bring your own snacks/drinks if you wish or if you have special dietary needs. Childcare is NOT provided for this event, but we encourage you to arrange childcare for any small children as the seminar is full of important information that you will not want to miss. Certificates of training will be provided at the end of each day.

Our regular 2nd Saturday Picnic and to get your FREE Child ID kit. The Lynchburg Exchange Club will be providing Child ID kits to any family interested.

"One of the most important tools for law enforcement in an emergency or when searching for a missing child is an up-to-date, good quality photo along with descriptive information"

*The Child ID information IS NOT stored in a database. The child’s photo, fingerprints, and descriptive data is loaded onto a disc that the child/guardian takes with them and the family keeps in case of an emergency.
