Geri is married to her wonderful husband John and recently celebrated her 38th wedding anniversary. Geri has three adult sons…Jefferey, who is a PTA at RACV – Timberlake; Bryan, who is a nuclear engineer for BWXT; and David, who is in the recording industry in Nashville, TN…and three grandsons, Sawyer, Oliver, and Benjamin, who are the light of her life.
Geri was a stay-at-home mother while her children were young and enjoyed volunteering for various clubs and organizations, most of which benefited her children as well as the children of others. Those volunteer opportunities included Concord PTA President, room mother for various grades, team mom for various sports, art volunteer for Leesville Road Elementary, Wildwood Swim Team President, Brookville Band Boosters, and Seven Hills Community Service Club President.
When Geri’s youngest son started pre-school, Geri started nursing school and graduated from Lynchburg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1995. She began her nursing career working in oncology, transitioned to home health nursing, and later moved into management positions.
In 2011, Geri stepped back from the nursing world to, once again, focus on volunteering and giving back to her community. She has been a CASA Volunteer since 2012 and Campbell County Adult ESL and Basic Literacy Tutor since 2013. She looks forward to transitioning into a CASA Advocate Manager role in Bedford. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, hiking with her husband, spending time with her family, and escaping to the Outer Banks.
