Advocate Manager serving Amherst, Nelson, & Lynchburg
Kristen Hern is originally from Oceanside, California. She moved to Lynchburg in 2012. Kristen has a background in business consulting, training and change management which she applied to starting a business in Denver Colorado in 2001. Upon selling the business in 2008, she and her family moved to Belgium for four years. It was in Brussels that Kristen became more heavily involved in shifting her focus to working with the poor, the homeless, refugees, and victims of abuse. Her eye was turned to injustice on a global scale for those in need and advocacy has become the central focus of her work going forward. Never to overlook those that may be feeling forgotten or suffering oppression because they are equally valued and loved in God’s eyes. Those that are suffering often need a voice until they find their own again.
Upon moving to Lynchburg in 2012, Kristen was privileged to volunteer locally with many outreach organizations which ultimately led to a position working with Rush Homes. She served Rush Homes initially as the office coordinator and ultimately stepped into the role of Development Director. She has worked with Park View Community Mission, served on the Board of Directors for “No Walls” , has a special place in her heart for the Daily Bread, and often spends time when not at work doing outreach in the local community because she loves people and believes that each person’s story holds value. When you meet Kristen, it won’t be long before she asks you; “Tell me your story.”
