Leslie Roberts

Part-time Recruitment & Outreach coordinator

For Leslie teaching has always been a work of heart.  Over her lifetime she has been an elementary school teacher, a middle school reading teacher, and an elementary school principal for 20 years.  She has taught high school and college freshman English, undergraduate reading education courses, and GED classes in jail.

Leslie was born in Bristol, VA (proud Virginia birth certificate) but grew up in the Atlanta, GA area.  For 40 years she lived and worked in Tennessee where she and her husband raised their three sons. Eventually, to be closer to children and grandchildren in the DC area, they looked for a home in Virginia and found one in Lynchburg, a community they both loved.  Leslie quickly discovered CASA, went through the training classes, and served as a volunteer advocate for several years.  She and Larry lived here 7 years before they made a COVID-driven, ill-advised move to Arlington, VA; happily they returned to Lynchburg in 2024.  Two years later, Larry passed away suddenly, and Leslie decided to devote her time and energy to a cause they both believed in.

Her spare time is spent reading and following Major League Baseball.
