We are CASA
CASA of Central Virginia trains dedicated community members to advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, ensuring they can thrive in safe, permanent, and loving homes.
These trained volunteers, known as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs), are appointed by judges in our local Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts across Lynchburg, Bedford, Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell, and Nelson counties.
CASA volunteers form trusted relationships with the children they serve, gather critical information, and collaborate with families and professionals involved in the case. They submit detailed, child-focused recommendations to the court, helping judges make informed decisions about the child’s future. As our judges often affirm, CASA’s voice is essential to achieving the best outcomes for vulnerable children in our community.
Children who have experienced abuse or neglect have better outcomes when they have a CASA Volunteer assigned to their case. Studies show:
