Marlena Ward

Advocate Manager (Lynchburg, Appomattox)

Marlena Ward was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia before moving to the nearby town of Bedford. Growing up in the area provided her with an inside perspective on community needs and a desire to help the people around her. That urge spurred her into a position with her local government, in emergency services. Following that, she served as a deputy clerk in the J&DR Courthouse where she first encountered the CASA program. Intrigued by the work they did and educated reports they submitted, she decided to attend an informational session in November 2025. That meeting furthered her interest in their work and inspired her to interview when they had a position available.

Determined to make a difference in the lives of families who are suffering, Marlena strives to strengthen the whisper that can get lost in the noise and give an informed perspective on the best interests of the child. Additionally, she is eager to support volunteers and provide them with resources so they can confidently accomplish their goals.

In her free time, Marlena enjoys spoiling her miniature schnauzer, crocheting, and going on day trips.
